Therapy in Haringey, Walthamstow & online
What I offer
Counselling
Face-to-face or online. Normally once a week for up to a year.
Counselling can help you to get through a life crisis, periods of change, and other stressful events. We will work together to help you process and make sense of what is happening for you in life right now. In counselling we can work to develop new ways of dealing with situations and people, or focus on overcoming some specific issue you might feel hinders you in life, such as panic attacks or anxiety.
Psychotherapy
Face-to-face & online. Normally once to twice weekly for at least a year.
Sometimes in life we find ourselves stuck in certain cycles. We might find ourselves struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, or grappling with difficult and painful emotion such as anger, shame or jealously. We might just have that nagging feeling that something isn’t quite right in our lives. Psychotherapy can help us understand how and why we feel the way we do, to discover what a more meaningful life might look like for us and find our way there.
In person or online
I work both face-to-face and online via google meet.
I have in-person practices in both East London (Walthamstow) and Haringey (Tottenham). I can offer online therapy via google meet if you are further afield. I offer a free 20 minute consultation which you can book here.
Pricing & commitment
My standard fee is £70 for a 50-minute session.
This is negotiable depending on the agreed weekly number of sessions. I also offer some low-fee slots for those whose circumstances mean they cannot afford to pay the full fee.
In our first three sessions I ask for 24hrs notice of cancellation. After that I ask for 7 days. The reason for this is that we treat the first few sessions as a trial period, where we make sure that working together is the right for both of us.
How I work
Pluralistic
My philosophy is that a relationship based on trust, understanding, and the empathy is the foundation of all good work. I’m trained as an integrative therapist, which means I’m experienced in a range of therapy styles. There’s a huge body of evidence showing that different approaches work for different people. My perspective on therapy reflects that: Together we’ll find what works for you, what you need at this moment in time and come up with a plan that helps you get the most from therapy.
Evidence-based
I use a range of well established and clinically evidenced approaches to therapy in my practice. My method revolves around the idea that our thoughts and behaviours are driven by underlying motivations, conflicts, and feelings that often remain unnoticed to us. In therapy, we’ll bring these aspects into focus by listening to your narrative, asking straightforward questions, and providing observations for your consideration.
Working with you
You might know exactly what you want: perhaps you’re looking to feel less anxious, more secure in a relationship or work through a particularly difficult moment in your life. Maybe you just have the vague sense that something isn’t right, but you’re not sure what. Whatever the issue, we can work together to find a way to make sure therapy is a rewarding experience.
Culture, identity & belonging
I work in a way that affirms gender, sexual and relationship diversity. I understand that political structures and ideologies shape the world around us. Recognising the huge influence that class, race, and culture has on our experience, I believe that the solution doesn't always entail changing ourselves, but rather addressing broader social issues. Rather, I validate and work with this, and hope in our work we can restore a sense of trust and possibility in the world, despite all that is happening.
My approach
I draw on psychoanalytic, existential, and attachment theory as the foundation of my work. Where appropriate, I also incorporate practice and theory from art therapy and other embodied and creative approaches.
